RNIB Sight Impaired Accessibility Mode

Please note that the details shown below and in the photos can vary slightly; however, the overall process will be similar.
Please also ensure that your terminal is not in training mode if you are using the terminal in a live setting.
RNIB (Royal National Institute of Blind People) Sight Impaired Accessibility Mode was developed to enable those with a disability affecting their sight, to be able to operate the touchscreen using voice instruction and other sound output. The below example will detail enabling this mode while capturing a sale.
Step 1:
From the Sale screen, enter the desired amount to pay.
Step 2:
Press the green OK button to proceed.
Step 3:
If tips are enabled on your terminal, you can initiate this mode at this stage. To do so, tap the icon depicting an eye with a line through it in the top right corner.
If you do not have tips enabled on your terminal, or no tip will be entered for this transaction, skip to step 6.
Step 4:
The voice will now prompt you to set its volume level to the desired level, to do so slide your finger up/down the screen.
Double tap the screen to continue.
Step 5:
The terminal will now display the RNIB gratuity select screen, the voice will describe the layout of the screen, and explain how to interact with it.
Slide your finger down from the top of the screen, each option will be read out to the user as their finger passes over it.
Double tapping the screen will then select the last option that was read out.
Now skip to step 8 if you enabled this mode at step 3.
Step 6:
If you didn't already at Step 3, you can initiate this mode at this stage. To do so, tap the icon depicting an eye with a line through it in the top right corner.
Step 7:
If you didn't already enable this mode at Step 3, the voice will now prompt you to set its volume level to the desired level, to do so slide your finger up/down the screen.
Double tap the screen to continue.
Step 8:
The terminal will now read out instructions to the customer for presenting their card via either contactless, C&P or swipe.
Step 9:
If contactless or swipe is used, after this step. skip to step 14.
If Chip & PIN is used, proceed from this step.
If this screen does not appear at this stage, skip this step entirely, it is only relevant when a card triggers DCC (Dynamic Currency Conversion).
The terminal will display this screen if a card is presented where the card issuer permits the usage of DCC, in the event that they are using a card that holds funds alternative to the currency the terminal natively transacts with.
Step 10:
If cashback is enabled (skip to step 12 if not), it will be prompted at this stage. There will be no voice instruction here.
Step 11:
If cashback is enabled, the terminal will prompt to confirm the total amount including cashback.
Step 12:
The terminal will now describe the layout of the next screen, and explain how to interact with it.
Double tap the screen to continue.
Step 13:
To enter a PIN, slide your finger down from the top of the screen until you reach the top row of numbers, the terminal will beep to tell the user when their finger moves over a number.
Double tap the button to input it. The same goes for the Cancel/Enter buttons.
Step 14:
The terminal will display a "Processing" message on screen while the Acquirer determines if the transaction is approved or declined.
You do not need to do anything at this stage.
Step 15:
When prompted, remove the card from the Chip & PIN reader.
Step 16:
If successful, the screen will display "Transaction Online - APPROVED".
You do not need to to anything at this stage.
If you see any other message, this could mean you are experiencing connection problems, or there is a problem with the transaction. Please contact the technical support helpdesk and/or Acquirer if you are unsure.
Step 17:
After a few seconds, the terminal will prompt whether you would like to print a customer copy (receipt). Once you select No/OK, the terminal will then return to the Sale screen.
